The joys of online dating....

When I recently became single, everyone started sharing their advice on what I should do to "move on". Some of course said, get back out their I met my spouse or current significant other online. So I figured, alright, I will give it a try. I work odd hours compared to others, plus I'm not a bar let's get drunk type of girl. I won't share the site I went on because I deleted my profile, I was not happy, although did line up plenty of dates.
Here is my first two experiences, although I have more dates to come so you will see my journey as we go:

Man #1, we will call him Steve

We set up a coffee date. I was looking forward to this it was on a Sunday.
He text me at 9:30am "Looking forward to meeting you today!"
I was getting ready for church at the time, then went to church, and didn't look at my phone or respond to him until later.
10am Steve: "Do you not want to do this?"
12:30pm Me: "Umm sure why?"
12:32pm Steve: "You seem busy and are making me feel like I am bothering you. If you aren't up for getting together, I would understand."
12:45pm Me: "I'm sorry I made you feel that way. I was at church and not looking at my phone."
12:47pm Steve: "I am looking for someone who is wanting a relationship and will take this seriously. I have had other bad experiences and I just want to make sure you are really into this."
12:55pm Me: "I am looking for a relationship but not one that is starting out on this foot. I have a bad feeling about this and you might want to take some time for you, as you seem to be hurt by someone in your past. I am feeling judged and haven't done anything wrong. I'm sorry but I am going to cancel the date. Hope you have a great day."

To save you from the long and elaborate responses, I will sum it up to you. He had a ton of baggage and then started begging me to go out with him. Needless to say, I wasn't flattered, I just politely said I wasn't interested. It took a while to get him to understand where I was coming from.

*****I don't know about you, but I am a go with your gut person. I am not going to do anything if my gut makes me feel that I should do it. This just felt like a bad experience and would be a waste of my time. As you learned about me in my about me section. I was in a relationship for 8 years and felt I wasted a TON of my life on someone who didn't want the same things as I do, so I don't want to waste any more time.

Man #2: We will call him Erik.
Online profile picture was a picture of him with classes, looked like the intelligent type, seemed easy to talk to on the phone, clean shaven, in the doctor field. He asked me out to sushi, I arrive, sit at the bar of the restaurant waiting. A man walks up to me and asks me what my name is. I kid you not, he looked like the wolverine threw up on his face. I am not saying I am against facial hair, because taken care of facial hair can be very attractive. This was crazy town on his face. I must have looked shocked because he proceeded to explain why he has facial hair.

"My patients think I don't look qualified to be a doctor without the facial hair so this is why I have it."

I had dinner with him and he was a nice guy, but a HUGE lesson I learned here is that, people try to put their best foot forward on the internet, even though my intentions are to find my soul-mate and my information is true and my picture current, not all people are that way, so precede with caution. My feelings towards putting up an old picture or one that doesn't look like you anymore - this is not telling the truth, you are wasting someones time and for those who have had experiences like mine, it feels like you are wasting your time and being lied to.

I have another coffee date and 2 sushi dates coming up. I will keep you posted!!

Until next time...

Cheap DIY for my Desk!!!

I am trying to be more creative, resourceful, and have a little fun in my life! I cleaned out my office at work, and found a jar that I bought from the dollar tree. Yes, $1! See below.

I also saw some of the marbles. I didn't like any of the color selection that they had, so I went with the clear ones.

I decided it was too boring so I broke down and bought some of this washi tape that everyone continues to talk about being so awesome and amazing. I hadn't used it yet so decided it was about time.
Of course I got pink tape, it also came with a silver, but I forgot to take a picture of it.

I put a ring of tape around the jar and wahoo, I am done. Added a little me to my desk and didn't spend a fortune or spend a ton of time. I couldn't be happier, I said I wanted to DIY, this is a good and successful start.
I am going to put my favorite pens in here and some cute fluffy ones, think back to middle school. I don't know about you, but I LOVED fluffly crazy pens. Cannot wait to hear the comments from my wonderful children :)

How else should I use this washi tape? I'm trying to be creative!!

Until next time...

Steak... yes please at Ray's

I have to say first and foremost that I HATE when people get paid to do reviews because I'm never sure if they are 100% honest with their review. I was not paid at ALL for this review.

It is Food Review Friday! I am reviewing Ray's The Steaks - this is my favorite restaurant in the DC area. I personally like the one in Clarendon the best. Although I have gone to their hamburger place - Hell's Burger down the street which is also amazing.

Here is what the restaurant looks like, courtesy of google.com images.

This restaurant is a reservations only restaurant, until recently, they opened a second section next door to help people be seated more quickly. My recommendation is always have a reservation. It is worth it. It is not on open table yet or else I would have a large amount of free dinners coming my way.

The look of the restaurant is very simple, wood floors, no bar - but they have a fabulous wine list and are very good prices. The steak is a good price as well, if you went to one of the "name brand" steak places you are going to pay at least 75 per person for wine included.

I LOVE their crab soup it has a taste unlike anything I have ever had before.

Pinot Nior - Very reasonable price and tastes fabulous! Best wine I have ever gotten at a restaurant. I won't lie.

I order their filet migon with garlic, garlic butter on the side, and bleu cheese. Wow O Wow does it taste fantastic, the meat melts in your mouth if you can imagine that.
courtesy of a google search. I couldn't find my picture of my steak. I love mine medium rare so it is a little redder and juicier than this photo but you can see the blue cheese.

The other thing that they pride themselves on is their aged meat which people I have dined with have gotten and I have tried. VERY good.

Sides: Comes with Spinach and Mashed Potatoes. They don't always tell you, but you can have unlimited amount of these. We always ask for our mashed potatoes with garlic on them. What can I say, I am making sure the vampires don't get me.

Paid for side I always get. Mac and Cheese. It is AMAZING. Tastes just like my grandma's from scratch macaroni. It is in one of those small skillet type dishes.

I will be honest, I have never had enough room for dessert, so I have never tasted one of their desserts.

Until next time...

My Reality TV Problems

I have a guilty pleasure. I LOVE trashy reality television. You must think okay she watches one here or there. No I seriously watch every reality show that I can get my hands on, they make me smile and feel so NORMAL! I love being able to do work while I watch and laugh my butt off!

***My newest additionWicked Single - Here is my review: You have to get used to the accents, even more drinking than Jersey Shore, and if you are like me newly single, it is a little depressing to see all of the male drinking and lack of any want for a serious relationship, but still very funny and lots of drama which I love to watch and not experience in real life. I cannot STAND drama in real life, which is probably why I love reality TV.

Here is my list of previous and current reality shows - get ready for a long list:
Biggest Loser - MY FAVORITE - Just finished their season - Danni was inspirational!
Dr. Phil - I want to meet him one day - I need to add this to my 30 before 30 list. He is amazing in all ways.
Bachelor/Bachelorette - liked Sean - very surprised with his pick.
Real Housewives - My favorite is Orange County & New Jersey
Bethanny Ever After & TV Show - Bethanny is great tv, she seems very real.
Intervention - Who doesn't love inspirational stories of people overcoming addiction, my one glass of wine at night is totally normal :)
Baseball wives - Anna Benson is a hysterical nut! You cannot hate her, you have to love her.
Mob Wives - I'm addicted to this show. The wives are fabulous, I enjoy googleing their Mobsters very interesting.
Preachers' Daughters - Just started this and not into it yet
Dance Moms - Abbey Lee is great! This season is showing a new side of her.
Basketball Wives - Awesome.
Sisterhood - Who doesn't love preacher's wives, southern charm, and drama.
Celebrity Wife Swap - This is so good! Really see celebrities lives.
Celebrity Apprentice  - Trump - I love him.
My Fair Wedding - I did watch this religiously when it was on.
Couples Therapy - LOVE!! Watched the celebrity one as well so interesting.
Real World - Who doesn't love this.
Jersey Shore - Come on I was an angel in college compared to these kids.
Snooki & Jwoww - Very interesting.
Teen Mom - Again I'm an angel - 27 no baby daddies yet :)
Laguna Beach - classic
Sister Wives - Insight to a life I could never live.
Giliana & Bill - Such a touching last season while they get a baby.
Supernanny - I work with children this is fabulous.
Teen Trouble - Similar to intervention - love the guy on this show, he has a story similar to the teens on the show.
Project Runway - I wish I was creative like this for a day would be a dream of mine.
Bar Rescue  - such cool concepts, very impression redos.
Catfish - makes me never want to online date ever.
A Baby Story - cute babies oh wow.
Four Weddings - I have so much fun grading the weddings myself.
Say Yes to the Dress - :)
DC Cupcakes - I live here I have to watch it.
Mystery Diseases - what can I say I'm a sicko - NOTHING grosses me out, you will find this out about me.
I didn't know I was Pregnant - how is this possible that they made a show about this, I am always fabbergasted by this.
Nick and Jessica - :( I still love this show even though they broke up.
Kendra -
Shredding for the wedding
Bridezillas
Keeping up with the Kardashians
Married to Jonas - LOVE the Jonas' they are so wonderful.
Kourtney and Kim Take Miami
Bridal Plasty - oh this is just a crazy concept.
Downsized

I will add: What would Ryan Lochte Do? Starts April 2 - review to come.

I'm sure that there are more that I have watched and just don't remember. For some reason, these shows make me feel like my life - that I feel is sometimes dramatic, crazy, and gives me the wow feelings - isn't really so nuts. I'm pretty normal and the things that happen to me are life and it's okay - I haven't lost it or need mental help - YET! I do have to say I love watching TV where I don't have to think and can laugh, laugh, laugh, often!

Until next time...

Wedding & Event Planning Wednesday

No I'm not getting married yet, but pinterest can surely make you feel like you are :) I love to plan events and it is part of my job at my school. I have planned many friends/family's weddings, parties, etc. What a blast you can have!

My current addiction on pinterest: PINK RINGS - as you can tell I love pink. The man of my dreams will know I want pink so, if you ever read this man of my dreams - pink will win my heart. I love reality TV and saw Jwoww's Pink Ring - picture below, beautiful.

Here are 4 engagement rings I found with pink, more in my price range. :)

I found this on pinterest, the link said that the ring no longer existed - oh my dreams shattered!

Here is the website I found this one on.

I found this one here.

Of course this link doesn't work either, found on Pinterest.

Wedding BAND idea :)
I found it a while ago on the DeBeer's Website, but it is no longer listed, I did put the link to their website.

I'm pink crazy! I worked on my office today, hope to finish tomorrow, looking forward to SHARING! It is a hot mess - but a work in progress.

Until next time...

A much needed break from my students!

Education Tuesday!!

If you are in the education world, you know that the month before Spring Break is the WORST month of the entire school year. I beg for Standardized Testing during these extremely stressful 30 days. I work with a population of students that is 75% free and reduced, diverse, English as a Second Language, Special Ed, pretty much you name it we have it. I WOULDN'T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY!!! My kids are so amazing in so many ways, the stories you will hear are funny, sad, and sometimes completely NUTS - that when I say them out loud I cannot believe that it happened to me. For the sake of privacy of all involved, I will never reveal the school I work at, the location, or use anyone's real names. I am still working this week, which is a blessing in disguise. I can actually get work done without someone coming in my office needing something, having something to share, or a fabulous student driving me nuts with their stories and interesting tid-bits of information.

My plan for the next three days is to organize my supply closet, my file cabinet, book shelf, and desk. I am going to use my handy dandy LABEL maker and new organizational bins to complete the task. You will learn quickly, I'm obsessed with my label maker. I have 2 - a hand held one that I can take anywhere and one that hooks up to my computer so I can use all my downloaded fonts - I'm in love with all of the amazing fonts you can find online. I'll share that in another post. Let's just say, like my days at school, my life is never boring, I am always making up projects for myself to do. Before and After pictures are a must.

Enjoy your Spring Break!
Until next time...

Neutrogena Body Clear

This spray is absolutely amazing. As you will find out about me, I have extremely oily skin and hate it! I used to use a spray from Clinque however, it has been discontinued. I did some searching on Amazon and decided I would try this product out.

It smells fabulous - clean not like some acne products smell like chemicals. It is light, you don't even know you have it on and dries extremely quickly so you don't have to wait, like I did with my Clinque product.
I haven't seen it in the stores yet, so if you do, let me know so I can get it in the store instead of online! Like I said I bought it on Amazon.
